Spa Detox Retreat: How To Save Money

There is absolutely no doubt about it. If you want to go on a detox, going away for a week to a Spa is a fantastic experience. But many of us just don't have the cash to be able to be able to do that. Here are some ideas so you can get all the benefits of a Spa without having to pay a fortune for it.

Many people find that a Spa retreat is the ultimate way to take time out and recharge their batteries. There's healthy food options available from the restaurant and exercise facilities available in the gym. There is also a range of treatments to help your detox such as massage, hydrotherapy and sauna facilities. There are often some health education services as well.

But with a little prior planning and preparation you can recreate these without having to spend a lot of money. First you want to set the date of your detox. Block some days in your diary so there are the minimum of interruptions. Tell your family and friends what you are doing so they are less likely to disturb you.

Educate yourself about what to do on your detox. There is a wealth of information available for free on the Internet or you can buy some books or a DVD. You want to start to think about what type of meals you'll be eating and maybe even have a practice of a few of them before your detox begins.

For your detox treatments you can either find a local practitioner or learn some self help techniques. Even if you pay a local professional hypnotherapist, massage therapist or beautician, it's still likely to work out less expensive than going to a Spa. Alternatively you can learn how to have a relaxing aromatherapy bath, teach yourself some yoga techniques and give yourself a self-massage. This can be done at minimal cost.

If you like the idea of going on a detox you can essentially turn your home into a Spa retreat. It will save you money and you'll feel much better afterwards.

Use Spa And Hot Tub Steps For Your Comfort

More and more people are taking advantage of the relaxing and therapeutic benefits of having a home spa or hot tub. Whether used primarily for quiet family time or for entertaining friends, hot tubs are popular backyard features. However, if it is difficult for you to get in and out of your spa, or if you are concerned about slipping and falling, you won't be able to enjoy your spa as much as you'd like to. Fortunately, there's a great solution. By using spa and hot tub steps and rails, you can greatly increase your comfort, safety and peace of mind so you can replace your worries and concerns with true relaxation.

Spa steps and hot tub steps are great for enhancing both the safety and comfort of your spa environment. Instead of having to climb over the edge of your spa, spa steps will raise your access point so you can simply step in and out of the water. By providing easier and more convenient access to your hot tub or spa, hot tub steps will make all of your time spent in your backyard oasis more enjoyable. Of course, by eliminating the need for climbing and reaching, spa and hot tub steps also enhance safety. This is particularly true when you use spa steps with non-slip treads.

No matter what style of hot tub you have and no matter what your particular design preferences may be, you will be able to find spa and hot tub steps that will meet all of your needs and tastes. That's because there are so many different styles of spa steps available to choose from. Even individual models are often available in different colors and in different heights. Spa and hot tub steps are also made from plastic or a variety of natural woods. Plastic spa steps are designed to be exceptionally durable and lightweight. Such steps are typically very easy to install and also tend to be almost maintenance-free so you can enjoy outstanding comfort and safety without frequent cleaning and upkeep.

If you prefer the look of wood to plastic, you will still have many models of hot tub steps to choose from. In many cases, wooden spa and hot tub steps are available in a wide variety of color finishes such as Redwood, cedar, espresso, coastal gray and terracotta. The available designs and styles of spa steps are just as numerous and diverse as the color finishes. For example, you can find everything from one tier hot tub steps to four tier hot tub steps. In addition, available styles include standard steps, curved steps and sunburst style spa steps. With such a great selection of hot tub and spa steps available, everyone can find a style that best suits their lifestyle and spa environment.

If you are hoping to create a truly comfortable and stylish patio area, you can also find furniture and other accessories to complement many models of hot tub steps. In many cases, manufacturers that produce steps also make tables, stools, benches and planters to match. As a result, you can continue your chosen design theme throughout your patio area while increasing your comfort both in and out of your spa. This will not only help turn your entire patio and spa area into an enticing oasis, it will also create an aesthetically pleasing set up.

While spa and hot tub steps will provide you with increased comfort and safety, you can further maximize both of those qualities by using spa steps together with spa handrails. By providing a sturdy grip and extra support, grab rails help to prevent falls and offer additional assistance when entering or exiting the water. By accessorizing your spa or hot tub with spa steps and one or more handrails, you will be ensuring that everyone who uses your spa will enjoy a high level of convenience as well as exceptional comfort.

Since maximized comfort leads to maximized relaxation, spa and hot tub steps can truly add to your overall spa experience. Nobody wants to worry about slipping and falling and nobody wants to deal with awkward water entrances and exits. Luckily, none of the above are necessary and such concerns can be completely eliminated simply by adding a set of hot tub steps. No matter what style of steps you choose, you will be increasing your comfort and safety as well as that of everyone else who uses your hot tub. With these you can feel confident that your spa or hot tub provides the most pleasant and comfortable environment possible.

How To Start A Medical Spa

The medical spa industry is growing at an incredible rate. This is due to the improved technology that provides people with less painful and more convenient methods of improving their outward appearance and staying younger. How do you join this growing field and cash in on the benefits? Anyone can do it, they must simply do the proper research and planning that is required for any business to succeed.

When considering opening a medical spa, it is important to first, do some demographic and marketing research. This kind of study will help determine what services you should provide and whether a medical spa would flourish in your area. What is the social economic status of the community?

Medical spa treatments are generally completely elective and aesthetic and not covered by insurance, thus medical spas only really thrive in affluent neighborhoods where there is enough disposable income to go around.

Also look at the age of the community: is it an older and more mature crowd or a younger population. If the population is older and more established they may be able to afford a wider variety of procedures and may be interested in more anti-aging services such as Botox injections, microdermabrasion and skin tightening treatments to fight wrinkles and give a youthful appearance.

If the market is young than services such as tattoo and laser hair removal may be very popular. Whatever the demographics are, try to tailor your services to their needs and interests. If you are serious about opening a spa, it may be wise to hire a marketing firm to conduct this demographic research and consult with you on how to make your business a successful one. There are also consulting firms trained specifically to aid medical spas get started and continue growing.

More research will need to be done that pertains particularly to the spa industry. All medi spas must be under the supervision of a qualified medical professional but how that is actually practiced varies from state to state.

Some states require the physician to be onsite at all times doing consultations and administering the actual procedures. Other states allow a medical professional to merely lend their name and accept responsibility for the practice without even being on the premises.

These doctors delegate the services to other authorized medical technicians. If you are a licensed doctor or plastic surgeon, this is a great opportunity to expand your practice and increase your earnings. Many plastic surgeons open small medi spas adjacent to their current practice to service the men and women interested in improving their physical appearance.

Make sure to do your research before buying equipment and machinery. You will want the latest and least painful technology for a reasonable price. The state also regulates what technology and equipment is used so it is important to check state requirements before you invest in the very expensive equipment and machinery.

When choosing your facility and location remember that spas are meant to be relaxing and luxurious so it is important to create a space that exudes prestige and professionalism. Once designed and set up it is crucial that the facility remains clean well maintained.

The next step in setting up your spa includes hiring a competent and skilled staff. Make sure they are all properly trained, because it adequate training will yield more positive treatment results and few injuries. In addition to being properly trained, employees need to be friendly and understand that the customer service aspect is central to the mission of the practice.

Patients come to the spa to be pampered and treated in a safe, relaxing, and welcoming environment and every staff member is responsible for and contributes to this atmosphere. With the proper research, licensed and trained doctors and staff, an elegant facility, and new technology, your medical spa is sure to succeed.

The Evolving Faces of Diagnostic Centers and Medical Spas

A visit to the doctor is a scary occasion for many people. Hospitals and clinics are almost always painted in white to convey cleanliness and efficiency. Add to that the prospect of being subjected to diagnostic tests using machines and needles. Truly, medical facilities are the most unwelcoming of places.

This is probably the reason why diagnostic centers and clinics are reinventing themselves to make them more appealing to the patients. On the other hand, traditionally non-medical institutions like wellness centers and spas are also trying to gain credibility in an era where consumers are more health savvy and demand more scientific-based health services.

Many diagnostic centers have coined their facilities' official name to include the term "wellness." Wellness is a word associated by many with alternative medicine whereas spas conjures pictures of well-being and relaxation. The Diagnostic & Wellness Center for Women of Pacific Medical Center (PacMed), the Diagnostic and Wellness Center at Harbor-UCLA, and the Women's Diagnostic and Wellness Center of Coral Springs Medical Center in Florida are examples of this trend. Even the renowned Cleveland Clinic has its Florida Health and Wellness Center.

Many clinics are redesigning their facilities to make them less sterile and more relaxing. PacMed's Diagnostic & Wellness Center for Women in Seattle describes its setting as "spa-like", with interior decor in warm, soothing colors and furniture and fixtures one wouldn't normally find in a normal clinic setting. However, despite the spa-like atmosphere, this unique wellness center has all the state-of-the-art medical and diagnostic equipment as well as top notch medical staff necessary to perform diagnostic tests. "Our goal is to change the healthcare experience for the better and encourage people to take a proactive approach to wellness", according to a PacMed Center spokesperson. The Women's Diagnostic & Wellness Center at Coral Springs Medical Center in Coral Springs Florida calls its setting "home-like" to do away with the impersonal atmosphere that is associated with many diagnostic centers.

Spas on the other hand, have adopted the term "medical spas" or medispas" to emphasize the medical and health benefits of their services. In the same way, alternative medicine is trying to keep up with technology. Whereas traditional acupuncture uses manual stimulation, acupuncture centers use new technology for stimulation, from electrical impulses and lasers to moxibustion and heat.

While many clinics are generalists, that is, they offer diagnostics, screening and check ups for just about almost all health conditions, many of the modern, "wellness"-oriented clinics are specialized in certain types of disorders. Following are some examples of these so-called boutique diagnostic facilities and their services.

PacMed's Diagnostic & Wellness Center offers diagnostic services specifically for women's health. These tests, which are usually part of annual medical check ups, can include any of the following:

(1) Digital mammography which is especially helpful in screening patients with dense breast tissue.

(2) Diagnostic ultrasound which is useful as an adjunct for further evaluation of an abnormal mammogram.

(3) Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), again to check for breast cancer, especially in women who are at high risk.

(4) Biopsies to confirm suspicious-looking structures detected by the above imaging systems.

(5) DEXA bone scanning checks for bone health. As women age, they are at higher risk for developing osteopenia and osteoporosis.

(6) Therapeutic massages either as part of postsurgical rehabilitation programs or simply a relaxing massage to recover from the stress of the tests.

The Women's Diagnostic & Wellness Center at Coral Springs Medical Center in Coral Springs, Florida offers similar services from breast cancer detection to bone densitometry tests. In addition, it offers education and fitness programs which include lectures, fitness classes, support groups, nutrition, massage therapy, maternal classes, cholesterol & diabetes screenings, weight management and healing arts classes.

The Diagnostic and Wellness Center at Harbor-UCLA specializes in cardiovascular health screening. The center uses state-of-art computer tomography (CT) scanning and imaging technology to perform the following "wellness scans" including heart scan, lung scan, body scan, abdominal aorta scan, virtual colonoscopy, QCT bone density and carotid artery scans.

The Winmar Diagnostics Sleep Wellness Center in Fargo, North Dakota specializes in sleep diagnostics. It basically provides services to hospitals, clinics, and private practices to test for and diagnose sleep disturbances. Its facilities include a free-standing sleep center, a complete sleep laboratory, and state-of-the-art equipment and highly trained staff in the field of sleep medicine.

Wellness scans are the specialty of many centers, including the Medical City Dallas Hospital in North Texas. But what is a wellness scan? A Wellness Scan is a non-invasive CT test from the collarbone to the pelvis and covers the heart, lungs and abdomen. The specific areas scanned in the abdomen are the kidneys, liver, gall bladder, aorta, adrenal glands, lymph nodes, spleen and other certain pelvic organs.

Now, a medical procedure that scares many people is a dental check up. As the name suggests, dental spas cater specifically to the dental needs of patients. The Austin Dental Spa offers general as well as cosmetic dentistry. The center utilizes "only the highest quality materials and the latest technology available in a world-class spa setting." By using a "combination of spa amenities and personalized care," the Austin Dental Spa makes a visit to the dentist a stress-free, fear-free experience.

Day spas are centers which provide cosmetic treatment to women and men, ranging from hair removal to botox injections. They are cosmetic centers and usually do not have anything to do with medical check ups and screenings although their services may be medical-based procedures. There are also spas whose services are more inclined towards complementary medicine such as yoga, Pilates, and aromatherapeutic massages.

The newly opened Women's Health Center of the Bond Clinic in Winter Haven, Florida has combined the features of a diagnostic center and a day spa to form a real "medical spa", a wellness center which caters to the medical and cosmetic needs of the patients. The center considers itself as a "one-stop shop for women's health includes obstetrics and gynecology, women's diagnostic services and a medical spa." The spa includes a licensed massage therapist and facial specialist who offers a wide range of services from a relaxing hot stone massage to variety of facial treatments. The board-certified physicians perform cosmetic laser treatments for facial rejuvenation, hair removal, spider veins and broken capillaries, acne, Rosacea and age spot removal. Botox and other cosmetic injections for the treatment of facial lines and wrinkles are also available.

According Gwen Mayes at Medscape Today , "Until a few years ago, day spas limited their "medical" procedures to an occasional light chemical peel, Botox injection by a visiting dermatologist, or a postsurgical medical massage by a licensed physical therapist. Today, instead of contracting with physicians in the community to stop by 1 or 2 days a week to offer updated laser treatments and advanced aesthetic procedures, physicians are expanding their outpatient facilities or partnering with existing day spas to create a medical spa. Both sides have found a more formal merger to be a lucrative and well-received union. According to ISPA, the industry generated $234 million in revenues in 2003."

The Women's Health Center at the Bond Clinic has achieved the ultimate hybridization of a cosmetic and a diagnostic center whose goal is "to give women a place they can go for both their medical and cosmetic needs in a relaxing, comforting and state-of-the-art atmosphere."

The borderline between alternative and scientific-based medicine has gradually blurred in recent years as a more holistic approach to medicine has become popular. Thus, massages and acupuncture have become part of postsurgical therapy of breast cancer patients while those who practice yoga and Reike may also go for botox and liposuction. Spas also have become mainstream and not just pastimes of the rich and famous. The average person can now have access to a spa anytime, without being subjected to membership or member recommendation rules.

The term "medical spa", however, is a subject of controversy because many facilities call themselves medical spas or medical day spas although the services they offer actually resemble those of a normal day spa. In many of these centers, a medical doctor may be in attendance or may act as a consultant. However, no diagnostic and screening procedures are being offered. We can expect more facilities to follow the Bond Clinic's model resulting in the need to protect the interests of patient-consumers who can be confused by the names of the facilities as well as the wide range of services they have to offer. To this end, the Medical Spa Society was formed, a national non-profit organization that aims to look at the guidelines and standards of care of medical spas.

Indeed, diagnostic centers and medical spas have evolved and are continuously evolving. One word of caution, check with your health insurance about their scope of coverage!

These amazing buildings houses Ishan Spa’s Reception and Spa Suites. And at the helm of this amazing business is Dr. Baskaran Koshti, a reiki and yoga practitioner with many years of experience in the health and wellness industry.

However, the preview cannot compare to what you’re about to experience. As you are walked out to the awaiting Spa Suite for your treatment, you will look around in awe at the view of lush gardens abundant with bright flowers and greens. You’ll see that despite the location of the spa, there is a small pool with outdoor shower and sink, and a small garden with exotic herbs of the region. The stone-covered walkway is as inviting as it is pretty, leading the way to your desired spa treatment.

As you step through the doors of the Spa Suite, you will feel no less amazed. With soft traditional music in the background, you’ll look out to a remarkable view through glass windows adorned with large, heavy draperies. Returning guests often opt to have their treatments with the same therapist as the last time, an action that pleases Ishan Spa management, as it shows great feedback and how truly memorable the services were to the guests. The therapists are often available, but calling ahead will guarantee that they are not booked for another spa engagement.

Guests who’d like to have a taste of a combination of treatments are recommended to opt for any of Ishan Spa’s Spa Packages. They start from simple combinations for lighter treatments, to the most extraordinary and ultimate spa experience.

These are some of Ishan Spa’s special treatments:

Full Body Coffee Bean Scrub –

Imagine beginning the spa treatment with the aroma of coffee – as a scrub! The grinded coffee beans works well for exfoliation; to remove dead skin cells off your skin’s top-most layer. Your skin will become soft and supple after being rinsed off, and this immediate result stays with you for a few days after.

Homemade Yogurt with Banana Leaf Body Wrap –

After a thorough exfoliation process, your skin is then slathered with Ishan Spa’s homemade yogurt and covered with banana leaves. Banana leaf covering the skin may be something new to spa goers, but it is an exciting experience everyone should discover. Bear in mind of its magical property – to aid absorption of the healing benefits of yogurt.

Roasted Coconut Oil Ayurvedic Scalp Massage –

This massage, with the intent of providing your scalp relief of ache and stress, is utterly heavenly combined with the aroma of roasted coconut oil. Your therapist’s finger movements are designed to help promote hair growth, and to relieve headaches, fatigue and tension. Your head will feel lighter, and you should feel a sharper sense of concentration after this treatment.

Floral Bath –

Immerse yourself in this warm, fragrant bath water in Ishan Spa’s Jacuzzi after the body scrub and body wrap session. Strewn with fresh rose petals and drops of essential oils, the Floral Bath will be soothing and refreshing. Feel your skin as you rinse off remnants from the treatments, and discover the softer, silkier new you.

Hot Stone Massage –

To begin, the therapist performs the house specialty Aromatherapy Massage for an hour. Ishan Spa’s own unique Asian essential oil blend is used, with Olive Oil as a substitute for guests with sensitive skin. In the last 20 minutes of the session, hot river stones are placed on your back’s acupuncture points to relieve soreness of muscles, and rejuvenate the body.

Rejuvenating Facial and Mask –

Being extra careful with the treatment, your therapist will begin by asking the proper skin tone or skin type for your face. This ensures the right type of mask is used, and that it doesn’t cause your skin any irritations. Your face is gently cleansed and exfoliated, massaged and applied with mask. After this treatment, your face will feel smooth and silky to the touch.

Foot Pampering –

And for that extra special experience, try out this luxurious treatment for your feet. For this ½ hour session, your feet are gently cleaned and filed with a natural loofah. Sea salt is slathered and left, to relieve pain and improve circulation, before a special mung bean paste is applied to the feet. After being rinsed and towelled dry, your feet will be slathered with lotion and gently massaged. This treatment is also available as a package in Ishan Spa’s signature Plumeria package.

Whatever treatment you choose, your experience at Ishan Spa of Langkawi will be no less than magical. Visit www.ishan-spa-langkawi.com, and book your ultimate spa experience today!

Fish Spas and Treatments – Weird or Wonderful?

Some ideas take a little getting used to. Even so, countless spa goers need no persuasion when it comes to being nibbled by small fish at designer spas and spa resorts in countries such as China, Japan, South Korea and Turkey. This growing trend is spreading swiftly throughout the world and has left some people feeling both perplexed and others feeling both beautiful and relaxed.

So how do fish treatments work and how do they aid in enhancing both wellness and beauty? Spas store small tropical fish called Garra Rufa, also known as doctor fish, nibble fish, Chinchin Yu, Kangal Fish and Turkey Fish, in warm pools of water or hot springs. These fish thrive in hot water from 15 degrees to 43 degree water and are used for various reasons such as for foot, facial and body treatments as well as for the natural treatment of skin disease.

The fish, as many spa goers say “kiss the skin”, ridding it of all affected and dead skin areas, leaving the healthy skin untouched to continue to grow and repair. The process is both painless and strangely wonderful, leaving behind a unique pleasant tingling sensation. Skin is left smooth, glowing and looking healthier. Although, also used for individuals suffering from Psoriasis, fish treatments are not a cure for the disease but a temporary treatment cure which can aid in preventing symptoms if repeated on a monthly basis. Nonetheless, there have been some individuals who claim to have been completely cured of Psoriasis after undergoing fish treatments. The fish treatments are also recognized as treatments utilized to release fatigue, increase blood circulation and aid in relaxation.

So why not immerse yourself into a hot spring or fish pool, or enjoy a foot, facial or body fish treatment before a massage, and experience a treatment like no other. This strangely unique and wonderful feeling cannot be described in words and will make you return every few months to take advantage of the fish treatments principal purpose and function, to protect and beautify your skin.

Day Spa, Pampering Heaven

The term Day Spa was coined in 1980s and immediately started to draw people's attention world over. The term day spa is relatively new for many people in the world. There is lot of confusion about term and its use. For the benefit of our readers I have tried to find the most appropriate and authentic definition of the term day spa.

According to Hannelore Leavy - A nurturing, safe, clean and caring, serene atmosphere where Professional, licensed aestheticians and therapists are employed. Private treatment rooms are available for each client receiving a personal service. Spa products used, for which, aestheticians and therapists have received training in their use. The services include massages: Swedish, Shiatsu, Lymph Drainage and Reflexology.

Optional services include: Polarity, Sports, Deep tissue and Deep muscle, body treatments: Body packs & wraps, Exfoliation, Cellulite, Heat treatments. Other optional services are: Electrolysis, Body Toning, Waxing, and Aromatherapy: Personalized for body and/or face. Face: Cleansing facial. Optional: Medical facial, Non-surgical face lift, Electrical toning, Electrolysis. The services must include one out of the following:

a) Hydrotherapy

b) Steam and Sauna

c) Nutrition and Weight Management

d) Spa Cuisine

e) Exercise

Optional:

1) Hair: Full service salon, Scalp and Hair packs

2) Nails: Manicure, Pedicure

3) Make-up: Consultation, Application

A day spa should give you a chance to relax and enjoy the treatments available. The range of treatments available in these establishments varies from stress release to losing weight. Some people like to take advantage of the cosmetic and age reducing effects from facials and body wraps. In this age of supercomputers and Internet stress and the strain of daily life, need of the hour is that we have to take the time out to treat ourselves and a visit to a day spa is the most refreshing way to achieve it. At these wonderful and secluded places you can forget about the world and enjoy having all the focus, attention on you and your pleasure for a day. Some of the pleasurable experiences that are waiting for you at the day spas are massaging, facials, body wraps and many other optional services like manicure and pedicure are readily available for you.

Availability of massage at the day spa is like an icing on the cake and everyone likes to have the cake at the first go. Swedish massage is great too though, and getting a massage helps with stress release, flexibility. Other available types of massage also rejuvenate our bodies and makes them free of toxins and generates a overall feel good psyche. Getting a massage from a masseuse who knows what they are doing can make you feel like you are the only person in the world and make you feel like you are a king or a queen.

The facial is probably the second most popular treatment after the massage treatment. These treatments go far beyond the simple washing and cleansing you may do on your own. A good facial treatment will rid your face of all the built up dead skin cells and cleans and hydrates your skin at the same time. This will leave you feeling clean, fresh, and much younger. If the day spa offers body wrap, definitely try this treatment. This is like a facial for your whole body where you are wrapped in minerals, herbs and essential oils which work together to remove toxic substances from your body. Some of these wraps can even help with weight loss.

Manicures and pedicures are also very popular treatments offered by day spas that can make you feel like you are being pampered and doted on. It is the whole day spa atmosphere that makes you enjoy the experience so much more than if you had it done at a nail salon. The difference is in the treatment, where the nail salon is focused on hurrying and getting you in and out, the day spa is more concerned with pleasing you and making you feel like a king or queen.

Places To Go For Spa Treatments After Moving To New York

Moving to New York can be so tiring that after you have settled in, it is not unusual to find yourself wanting for a body pampering session at a spa to take care of tired muscles and feet. Looking for the right spa in New York can be easy since this is one of the cities that focus on fashion and body pampering. There are a number of spas scattered in almost every district, each offering a specialized treatment under a specific price range. And one of the best places to look for a spa in New York is the Upper Eastern Side.

The Third Avenue is where Ajune Spa is located and is a great place for young mothers. The wood accents and ambience provides a relaxing venue for their aroma rich treatments such as grape-infused massage, banana-soy hydrating, kiwi-pineapple exfoliating and strawberry treatments. They also offer their famous floral massage and several new age packages which include dermabrassion with salt, laser wrinkle reduction, beta peels and collaged treatment.

If you are looking for hair removal treatments, then the elegantly appointed Completely Bare spa on Madison Avenue is a must visit place for you. They offer an advanced permanent hair removal system for unwanted hair on the upper lip, back, chest, neck, bikini areas and legs. This system is offered to both men and women. What they use is an epilite intense-pulsed-light machine which also doubles to reduce large pores. Other treatments offered include the Epi-Polish Facial. The treatment takes less than thirty minutes and promises an even skin complexion result.

Also located on the Upper East Side, Elizabeth Arden Red Door and Spa on Fifth Avenue is yet one of the spas you have to visit. They offer a unique foot spa treatment featuring an olive-citrus infused soak, scrub, massage and nail polish. This Olive Oil Procedure takes a total of fifty relaxing minutes and perfect for your feet which may have gotten sore from moving into your new home. Aside from this treatment, this spa also offers their Desert Stone Massage which is great for removing tension in the back.

Avalon Salon and Spa occupies three floors on a building on Fifth Avenue. Aside from the usual spa treatments, they also offer eyebrow treatments. The salon of a famous eyebrow sculptress Lisa Petrescu occupies the second floor of this shop and offers waxing and plucking. They promise to shape your brows into perfect arches which will match your overall facial features. On the upper floor, Avalon Spa offers a variety of treatments which include paraffin pedicures, hot stone massages and pre or post-natal massages for mothers.

After settling into your new home in the Big Apple, there is just no better way to unwind than spending a body rejuvenating session at a spa. Although the Upper Eastern Side is a good place to find spas, this is not the only place to find one. Fortunately for you, moving to New York gives you more choices in terms of fashion and body pampering establishments.

How A Jacuzi Spa Can Change Your Life?

There is nothing quite as relaxing as a leisurely evening soak in the Jacuzi Spa after a long, hard day's work. Sore muscles can finally relax as the water jets massage aches and pains away.

Soaking in a Jacuzi Spa is proven to reduce stress levels, lessen chronic pain, and help cure sleeplessness.

Buying your first Jacuzi Spa does not have to be a bewildering experience. Read up, make a checklist of your wants and needs, assess your budget - hot tubs can cost anywhere from $2,000 up to $20,000 or more, depending on quality and accessories - and soon you will be soaking in your own luxurious Jacuzi Spa.

“Wet testing” a Jacuzi Spa before purchasing it is a good idea to insure that the tub is the right size, has the right water pressure and the right feel.

So many different models of Jacuzi Spas are available that it is important for consumers to be sure they are buying the one best suited to their needs.

You may also want to consider features such as an underwater light, a storm seat, and even a built in CD player. For those people who are attached to their television sets, there is even a model with a built in TV/DVD player combination.

There are even hand and foot jets designed specifically to relieve these overworked muscles.

If you want to avoid having to scrunch down to have the jets reach your back, you will want to look for a Jacuzi Spa with plenty of jets and a more powerful motor.

Swirling jets can target certain areas of the body, while pulsating, or gattling jets, flush water in staccato successions over a larger radius - great for the lower back in lounges.

A Jacuzi Spa is a great investment for people who want a place to relax year-round.

You should have a licensed electrician and plumber complete the Jacuzi Spa installation, if you do not have it installed by the manufacturer.

If you have doubts whether you should buy a Jacuzi spa or not – don’t. It is amazing what it can do for your body, not to mention your heart and soul.

Thank you for your time.

Why a Detox Foot Spa is the Way to Go?

Overworked, overextended and several pounds heavier? If post-holiday blues and a frantic back-to-work routine is weighing you down, why don’t you step back a moment, listen to your body as it shouts for a little time to relax and re-balance itself. Treat yourself to a rejuvenating spa therapy and other detox delights. While sipping a cool, refreshing fruit drink, you may have a detox foot spa, for instance.

Being attuned to your body is, indeed, the first step to better health and wellness. So many of us suffer from toxic overload which can lead to over fatigue, a host of digestive problems, and a dangerously reduced immune function. The good thing is that when your body is having difficulty removing toxins, it lets you know in varied ways. These may include digestive problems; recurring colds & flu; headaches & migraines or joint pains; bad breath & body order; sensitivity to caffeine, alcohol or monosodium glutamate; lethargy & feeling drained; difficulty in concentrating at work; allergies & other skin breakouts; and constant irritability, to name some. When one or most of these occur, the first thing to do, of course, is to consult a primary care physician. A detox foot spa may be a thoroughly relaxing thing which is even touted to be an effective way to ease many ills ranging from eczema to asthma and menstrual problems to other ailments.

For body cells to function correctly, though, there are other things one can do in conjunction with detoxifying spa therapy, to deliver vital nutrients to the body, which in turn results in the elimination of unwanted toxins. You can re-balance your cells, first and foremost, by removing food additives and overly processed foods from your diet. Opt instead for the top five detox foods: leafy green vegetables (like spinach); fresh vegetable & fruit juices; lemon (which can prevent infection and is good for the liver and digestive system); seaweed (rich in minerals); and apples & grapes (with antioxidant properties linked to reduced risks of heart attack and cancer). You may also supplement smartly when these detox foods are not yet in your pantry.

While you’re at it, pamper yourself with a personal spa treatment using a homemade body scrub. An example is the avocado moisture scrub, easily created by mixing two fresh avocado pits ground to a powder with a cup of milk or yogurt. The alpha hydroxyl acids in the yogurt or milk serve as natural defoliators that can stimulate cell turnover while moisturizing skin. Or you may use lavender essential oil – place a few drops in a basin of very hot water and dip in a terry washcloth then rub skin briskly, starting with your feet and up to the upper extremities.

The body scrub may follow a detox foot spa that will allow you to relax for about half an hour. While placing your feet into the foot bath or basin-like container filled with water and some minerals or herbs, you can think happy thoughts to ease your mind of worries. Clear your mind of pressing work concerns.

A good quality multifunction foot spa can be found in online stores. Check out reputable foot spa device manufacturers and find one that can possibly help expel accumulated toxins and wastes, including aged cells. Some sites indicate that various types of toxins will be indicated by a color different that indicates a person’s health status, but this has been met with mixed reactions ranging from plain curiosity to incredulity.
